International Women's Equality Day marks important moments in women's quest for equality between the sexes, especially when it comes to gaining rights in professional and political life.
Throughout this movement, which began a long time ago, the media have played an important role in spreading the culture of gender equality and combating violence against women.
A few decades ago, women didn't have the right to vote, nor access to formal education, and the job market was resistant to the presence of women. Our place in society was limited to marriage and motherhood.
Not to mention violence which, of all the forms of discrimination suffered by women, is the most aggravating, especially in a sexist country like Brazil. As an example of an achievement, we have the Maria da Penha Law, which has been in force for 11 years in Brazil and is increasingly used by women as a form of defense and equality. This comforts society in a positive way, as each new generation performs much better than the previous one and all that is hoped for is that the next one will be even better than this one.
In recent times, through social movements and the dissemination of the importance of women through the media, we have experienced progressive access to education, the world of work, political exercise and the fight against violence.
Women are preparing more and more for the job market and occupying more spaces. In fact, studies show that women invest more in training courses than men! Thus, the inequality that is still present in our society is gradually diminishing.
With the advent of the internet, which has globalized and popularized information, we have seen the cause of gender equality take a step forward. We now see debates on social media and countless groups defending and supporting women's rights. In today's world, everything is exposed quickly.
We at CADA Comunicação consider this date a time to reflect and raise our "flag" against gender inequality! Our company was founded by women with two partners and a team that supports the fight for gender equality and, above all, respect for women.
What do you think of this cause? Do the media contribute to spreading gender equality?
We want to hear your opinion.
